Food Rescue Angels

At Loveland’s Community Kitchen, our Food Rescue Angels help turn surplus food into meals for neighbors in need. Through our Food Rescue program, volunteers collect safe, high-quality surplus food from local restaurants, grocers, bakeries, and food suppliers and deliver it to the Kitchen where it is shared with guests facing food insecurity.

Food rescue reduces food waste, supports hunger relief, and strengthens community partnerships. It’s a simple act with powerful impact—good food that might otherwise go unused instead nourishes families, seniors, and individuals in our community.

We invite volunteers to join our Food Rescue Angels team and help pick up donated food from local partners. We also welcome restaurants, grocers, and food suppliers to connect with us to provide in-kind and rescued food donations.

Together, we can make sure good food feeds people—not landfills.

Volunteer with the Kitchen

Volunteers at the Community Kitchen support our program in a variety of ways.

The Community Kitchen is a preparatory kitchen and while we serve prepared meals, we do not cook the meals. We have a partnership with Meals on Wheels of Loveland and Berthoud and purchase at cost a protein, starch and vegetable for the daily main meal.

Volunteers distribute prepared meals and food bags to guests during serving times, prepare food items that do not require cooking (such as salads and sandwiches), assemble food bags, portion food into individual containers, pick up food items from retail stores and food banks, clean, sort donations and assist with some office work. Many opportunities require a weekly or monthly commitment, while there are also opportunities for one-time volunteering or more occasional.

To find out about our current opportunities, please contact us at 970-278-1726 or email at volunteer@lovelandscommunitykitchen.org
